Pilgrimage to Winchester Cathedral

Saturday 13 June 2026, 10:00

If you're interested in joining Paul on pilgrimage to Winchester Cathedral on Saturday June 13th, please complete the form below.

You can join the route at various points, so you choose the length of journey that suits you. (see below) Reflections will be offered along the walk, and we'll be aiming to be at the Cathedral in time for Evensong

Only a few days to go, and the weather is looking kind for our pilgrimage on Saturday. See below for important information for the day, so please read till the end.

  1. My Mobile Number: If you need to call me, my number is 07356 206267

  2. Walking Shoes: Although the weather looks good for Saturday, it has rained a lot over the last week, so I suspect some parts will be muddy. Please bring good walking shoes.

  3. Sun Cream: Saturday is looking quiet Sunny, so please be prepared with Sun Cream if you may burn.

  4. Trousers, etc: Some part of the path (especially the bit before Eastleigh)  may be overgrown, so I would suggest wearing clothes that cover legs to avoid collecting ticks.

  5. Food and Water: Please also bring some lunch and enough water. I hope that we will be able to refill water bottles in Shawford (in the Bridge Inn), but that is already a long way through. You may want some snacks to eat as we walk too.

  6. Allergies: I will ask on the day, but if you have any allergies (especially to stings, etc), please let me know. Some may like to bring string cream, etc.

Joining points:

For those joining partway along here are the areas to find us:

  • St Denys Church (10:00 am).

  • Eastleigh (12:30 pm): Bishopstoke Road Playing Field, at Eastleigh Rugby Club.

  • Shawford (3:00 pm): Compton Loch. Follow the Itchen Navigation path along the river towards Winchester.

  • Winchester Cathedral (5:00 pm): We will wait outside the Cathedral till 5:00, then go in. Those who would like to stay for Evensong at 5:30 pm and then catch the train home. No Return Transport is provided!

  • If you would like to view the reflections for earlier in the walk, they can be found here. I will have copies for those starting from St Denys.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

If you are joining later, the reflections will be available, so you can still spend time in the morning joining with the reflections the walkers would have done before you join the walking.
