The Great Story

In this series, we will be exploring The Great Story that is contained within the bible. We will look at what the bible is, and how it can still speak to us today. We will be exploring different ways to engage with the bible and with the Holy Spirit, let it speak into our lives. 

The sessions have been loosely based on the Bible Course by the Bible Society.

Session 1: Introduction to the bible

In this session, we provide an introduction to the bible and explore what it means for us that the bible is a revelation that speaks to us in our current culture, even though it was written a long time ago.

Session 2: Starting at the beginning: Genesis

In this session, we take an overview of the book of Genesis.

Session 3: The Exdos

In this session, we will continue the story from Genesis into the story of the Israelites leaving Egypt, known as the Exodus.

Session 4: Joshua, Judges, Kings, Exile and the Return.

In this session, we cover almost the entire Old Testament. We look at the Israelites entering the promised land, and reflect on the nature of the violence and genocide that this suggests. We also take an overview of the cycles of the Israelites losing their unique identity as God's chosen people, losing battles, and then seeking God again.
