Trust in God and Take the Next Step
# Friday Reflection

Trust in God and Take the Next Step
Along with receiving some fantastic water images this week (thanks Mike, Ali and Chris), I also received an accompanying reflection from Chris K. His words felt pertinent as the seasons change and there is a sense of anticipating our next steps in different ways.
Chris wrote:
'On my desk I have a piece of paper from church, with one of your Mum's* messages on it:
'Trust God and take the next step.'
During my spell in Cumbria last week, chasing opera all over the county, there was one fine day - Monday - so I decided to do some fellwalking, even though I haven't done it seriously for over 20 years. I have good boots though! I did the Fairfield Horseshoe. 12 miles. 3000+ feet of ascent.
My balance isn't what it was, and I have no head for heights, so I found it challenging: your Mum's message, muttered through gritted teeth, became my mantra for the day, especially in the steep and rocky bits.
When I got back to the car the step count was over 42,000, and I don't think the 'Trust God...' count can have been far behind!
Whether you feel at the moment that life is like walking over fells; through deep valleys; wading through treacle or clambering an assault course, I pray that you are able to take the next step, and to trust God as walk.
Blessings,
Sera and the St Denys team.
*'Mum' is Ruth Oldfield, my mum. Each week she designs and shares a Doodle of Faith via a growing email list. With her permission I brought a selection to Abide, and have also included some in a blog here.
