I am so excited to be writing this blog post about this year’s Heritage Open Days at St. Denys church!  Your St. Denys Church team has prepared wonderful events for you to enjoy during this week.

This year’s theme is Routes, Networks and Connections, so we have tailored events to explore more about how St. Denys Church connects with Southampton and adjacent areas. We have prepared guided walks, movie night and music night for your enjoyment throughout the week!

On Thursday, the 12th of September you can enjoy a different movie night where we will be appreciating Railway journeys, featuring Michael Portillo, surrounded by the historical Victorian atmosphere of our lovely St. Denys church!

We will start the guided tours on the 14th of September at 10am when our very own historian Frank Green will show us all the fantastic history that our lovely church holds. The guided walks will also happen at 2pm on Saturday, and 2pm on the following Sunday. If you are passionate about history and St. Denys Church be sure to not miss the talk that Frank will be presenting on Sunday at 3pm!

To mark the end of this wonderful week St. Denys Church team will host a  concert with the local Southampton rick group ‘Sholing Minstrels’ on Sunday the 15th of September at 8pm.

Stop by and learn more about our lovely Victorian church, we will be showcasing facts about our history just during this week. We are open daily from 9am until 1pm, you don’t need to book if you whish to enjoy any of our events, just stop by and take part of all the fun!

You can enjoy a variety of all other events  through England, Liam Montgomery, Heritage Open Days Marketing & Projects Manager says: “The scale and diversity of Heritage Open Days is just incredible – every year thousands of passionate people help visitors to make doorstep discoveries and connect with history and heritage in every part of England. This year though, it will be extra special as we celebrate three decades worth of stories and all the brilliant people and places that have made it, and continue to make it, all possible!”
